No one has set foot on Earth in centuries—until now.
Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents—considered expendable by society—are being sent on a dangerous mission: to recolonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission.
CLARKE was arrested for treason, though she's haunted by the memory of what she really did. WELLS, the chancellor's son, came to Earth for the girl he loves—but will she ever forgive him? Reckless BELLAMY fought his way onto the transport pod to protect his sister, the other half of the only pair of siblings in the universe. And GLASS managed to escape back onto the ship, only to find that life there is just as dangerous as she feared it would be on Earth.
Confronted with a savage land and haunted by secrets from their pasts, the hundred must fight to survive. They were never meant to be heroes, but they may be mankind's last hope.

So I requested this at the start of the TV show. At first I was really excited to read but then the show (in my mind) got worse and worse. And I kept putting off reading The 100 because I was afraid for the disappointment in stall.

Luckily this was not really the case. The book is completely different to the show. And is definitely much much better. The only problem for me is that if you are older than the intended reading age than this is not the book for you. It is not a book that can be read by all ages, when it says young adult/teen, it really does mean it.

What I really wanted was more from this book. Not more flash-backs – there were plenty of them floating around, stalling the story. But more information, more about how the human race got to living in space, more about the society more about the other 100, we only really know about eight of them. I felt like all the issues and everything was being skimmed over. There was more focus on the will they / won’t they love story and the insta love to leave room for anything else.

Don’t be put off by my moaning, this book is good fun. And you will be left wondering how the 100 will survive and what will happen to those left on the ship. You will fall in love with Bellamy,  Clarke, Glass and Wells. You will want them and the human race to survive.

The 100 may not be all guns blazing but it is a book that you can pick up and enjoy.
