If you have read my blog before you know that I love any book by Simon Lelic (although The House is still my favourite!). So I was super eager to dive into The Search Party and see if I could unravel the mystery.

Let’s just say that I couldn’t! This was a gripping, dynamic read, that had me on the edge of my seat and made me read in one sitting. I was surprised how good this book was, considering how much of a different read it was to his previous books. I feel like I made that sound like a bad thing, but I promise you it is not. To be honest, it is pretty amazing to think that I have three books that are completely different from the same author.

But maybe I should get back to The Search Party

Sadie, has been missing for 6 days. The police and the town believe that she is near the estuary and their search is focused on this area. But her friends and brother are certain that this not case. And they will be more successful looking in the wood. So off they go without telling their parents.

Immediately you know that you are not getting the full story. From the start you can tell that there is a huge secret in the group. And I had a hard time trying to work out what that secret was. It was only when everything that was revealed that I knew what was happening. I also thought that the voices of the teens were well written and believable as they keep changing their stories and keep on the defensive.

And then at the end, we had lots of twists and turns and big reveals. That just seem to get bigger and bigger each time. The Search Party was a captivating read that will have you on your toes. When reading expect the unexpected, and even then you may still end up being surprised!
