Introducing: Movie Musical Challenge 2017

Introducing: Movie Musical Challenge 2017

Last Year I participated in Bookish Whimsy Movie Musical Challenge. This year I’ve decided to do another Musical Challenge. This time the 25 AFI’s Greatest Musicals of all Times! The Challenge is 25 Musicals in 12 months. Which should be really easy. Fingers crossed. Some of these I have already seen. But in honour of the challenge I am watching them ALL OVER AGAIN. Fingers crossed that this year I can watch a whole load of musicals. The Plan: I’m not going to watch these movies in any particular order, but each one I watch I will review. The plan is to watch at least two a month. Warp up in December where I will reorder the top 25 into my own list of top 25.   The AFI’s Top 25 Movie Musical List: Singin’ in the Rain (1952) West Side Story (1961) The Wizard of Oz (1939) The Sound of Music (1965) Cabaret (1972) Mary Poppins (1964) A Star Is Born (1954) My Fair Lady (1964) An American in Paris (1951) Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) The King and I (1956) Chicago (2002) 42nd Street (1933) All That Jazz (1979) Top Hat (1935) Funny Girl (1968) The Band Wagon […]

Bookish Gossip: My Bookish Resolutions for 2017

So you all must be sick of bookish resolutions. Everyone has posted they year goals already. But just because it is no longer the new year doesn’t mean that resolutions can’t be made.  And as normally new year resolutions are ditched with within the first two weeks of making them that I thought now would be a perfect time to list my 2017 bookish resolutions. So that is what I am doing, I’m listing my bookish resolutions for 2017. Last year I set myself six little resolutions. Some of them I achieved. Others I failed miserably. This year I hope to achieve all my goals, but we will find out at the end of the year. So my goals this year are: To actually complete a challenge I set myself Last year I set the task of completing a bookish challenge. I failed. This year I just want to complete one challenge. It doesn’t have to be bookish. I can be anything. And seeing as I be announcing a couple of challenges soon this goal should be achievable. This year at least. Reduce the amount of ARC’s / Netgalley books I have to read I feel like this is […]

Bookish Gossip: Looking back at 2016 Resolutions

Posted January 23, 2017 by Charlotte in Bookish Gossip / 0 Comments

Last year I set myself six little goals, six resolutions to help me read and blog better. Some of these I achieved others I failed at. But looking back I’m really happy with what I achieved and hopefully this will push me to do even better in 2017 So my goals in 2016 were: To complete the reading challenges I set myself.  This was a challenge I failed. Again I didn’t complete a challenge but this gave me an opportunity to try new things so in that sense it was a success. To comment on other blogs.  I definitely succeeded in this challenge. Sometime I struggle to know what to say but as the year progressed I felt I got a lot more comfortable sharing my opinion. Reduce the amount of ARC’s / Netgalley books I have to read.  I don’t think I succeeded in this goal, there are still a huge pile of books to read, but I have definitely become a lot more selective in what I will request and say I want to read. However… read some of my own books for my own pleasure. This was a brilliant idea of mine, it was so good to step back […]

Bookish Gossip: Going on a Blog Holiday until the 28th July

So I’ve run out of posts to write. Ok not to write I just haven’t written any posts in a while. And I think that the lack of posts last week says it all. So I decided rather than stressing. I’m just going take a little break until the 28th July (when I have a promised post for a publisher to go up) and hopefully in August I will have posts scheduled left, right and centre and just feeling more prepared. Blogging for me has become hard recently I started a new job which is a proper full-time job, so I have less time for blogging and my job is an hour and a half away from where I live. So I’m a bit knackered at the end of the day to turn the computer on and type. This is why I’ve said enough. My blog is my hobby not my job and however much I want it, no matter how much I try until I get ahead I’ll always be struggling and losing faith in blogging. Because blogging is becoming a chore at the moment. Not something I enjoy and definitely not something I really want to do in my free time (although I […]

Bookish Gossip: My Bookish Resolutions for 2016

This year I want to do better with my blog, and what better way to start the new year with some bookish goals to aim for?! So my goals this year are: To complete the reading challenges I set myself. In 2015 I didn’t complete a single challenge. I got close but never got 100%. Hopefully this year will be different. To comment on other blogs. I started commenting on other blogs mid-year and it went really well for a couple of months and then I slowly stopped. Time to get back in the swing of it! Reduce the amount of ARC’s / Netgalley books I have to read. This is a bit of a pressurised ask as I feel that I have a lot of books to read, but can’t read my own books because of books from publishers. So the aim is to reduce that pile. However… read some of my own books for my own pleasure. Sometimes I feel blogging can take over and sometimes the joy of pure reading is lost. So I want to read books for the sake of reading because that is what I fancy doing. Read the books that are physically on my shelves. We all have that habit of […]
