Guest Post: Q&A with Katherine Clemants, author of The Silvered Heart

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for The Silvered Heart by Katherine Clements.  And as part of it I have a Q&A with Katherine Clemants. This is a book that I was excited to read, I loved Katherine’s first book, The Crimson Ribbon, so much that I sure this is going to be equally good and perhaps even better. At the moment I haven’t had a chance to sit down and enjoy a book properly as it is bang in the middle of exam season. Boo! But back to The Silvered Heart, which is about an infamous highwaywoman. Below Katherine has kindly answered the questions I sent her, in lots of detail and, without giving too much away (I will try to be more sneaky next time!). What drew you to Katherine Ferrers? Because (and this may be a terrible thing to admit) but I have never heard of her. She seems quite an intriguing lady. You may not have heard of Katherine Ferrers, but you may have heard of legendary 17th century highwaywoman, ‘The Wicked […]

Guest Post: ‘Top spots for eating out at Valentines’ by Stella Newman, author of The Dish

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for The Dish by Stella Newman. Today I have some Top Spots for eating out at Valentines. I loved reading this story which was full of my favourite things, some romance, witty and loveable characters, and food to drool over (see my review) and highly recommend it for all you Chick-lit fans out there! Don’t forget to visit other blog stops along the tour for other great content. Below Stella shares  her top spots for eating out at Valentines! Just in case you need some inspiration… I’m not a fan of going out for dinner on Valentine’s Day.  Like New Year’s Eve, the pressure to have THE BEST TIME EVER tends to mar the occasion.  Whenever I’ve done it in the past, restaurants seem to be full of couples bickering, or who’ve run out of things to say to each other.  I’d much rather stay home.  As the fabulous Elizabeth Gilbert’s husband once (more-or-less) said: A woman’s place is in the kitchen.  With her feet up.  Drinking a glass of wine.  With her other […]

Guest Post: Q&A with Mark B. Mills, author of Waiting for Doggo

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for Waiting for Doggo by Mark B. Mills. And today I have a Q&A with Mark B Mills. I loved Doggo! This was a brilliant, funny and extremely entertaining read. I will at some point attempt to get my dog onto the bus, maybe  into Uni, as a ‘mental health companion’ (thanks so much Mark for this idea!) If you’re still not sure about this book then see my review. If waiting for Doggo was turned into a movie, who would be you dream team to produce it? And who would you cast as your characters and why? That certainly would be amazing. In an ideal world I’d want Working Title Films to be involved. I came close to working with them on a few occasions when I was a screenwriter, but the projects never quite came off. Since ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ they’ve cemented their reputation for making great comedy films, everything from rom coms (‘Notting Hill’, ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’) through to farce (‘Johnny English’, ‘Hot Fuzz’). Dreaming on…. […]

Guest Post: ‘Oyster Facts’ from Jo Thomas, author of The Oyster Catcher

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for The Oyster Catcher by Jo Thomas, with Jo sharing some Oyster Facts! I loved reading The Oyster Catcher (see my review) and highly recommend it for all you Chick-lit fans out there! Don’t forget to visit other blog stops along the tour for other great content. Below Jo shares some Oyster facts! So here are some Oyster facts to get you going! Oysters have existed since pre-historic times. According to champion shucker Patrick McMurray in his book ‘Consider the oyster’, shells have long been viewed as a symbol of womanhood and fertility. It was Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, to whom we owe the word ‘aphrodisiac’.  She was carried to shore on a giant shell after rising naked from the foam in the sea. Some say it’s an oyster shell, some say it’s a scallop. The Romans couldn’t get enough of oysters. Roman emperors calculated their weight in gold and sent thousands of slaves to the shores of the English Channel to gather them, says McMurray. The Romans set up one of […]

Blog Tour / Guest Post: Q&A with Stephen Lloyd Jones, author of Written in the Blood

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for Written in the Blood by Stephen Lloyd Jones. And I am delighted to have a Q&A with Stephen Lloyd Jones on the blog. I loved loved this book! (See my review). Below Stephen has kindly answered some of my questions. Don’t forget to pop along to other blogs for more great content! For those who haven’t yet read Written in the Blood, please can you explain the premise of the book. And why they should be reading it! WRITTEN IN THE BLOOD is the story of a young woman, Leah Wilde, fighting to defend her rare lineage against the mysterious forces that threaten to destroy it. When in desperation she contacts a powerful former adversary for help, Leah unleashes an even greater menace, one that could destroy them all. While the book is a follow-up to my debut thriller, THE STRING DIARIES, it can be read as a stand-alone story. I hope it will appeal to readers of contemporary thrillers and anyone who enjoys a dose of the […]
