Welcome to my feature, Pastime Pleasures all about books I have loved and adored and were published over five years. Today is the turn of Game of Throne by George R R Martin.
So other than The Lord of The Rings, this is one of my favourite High Fantasy books. And out of this whole series this is probably my favourite book. To be honest I am struggling to describe my feelings on this book. Because I loved everything about it. It is detailed, completed and there is a lot of information to understand.
I also loved that the chapters are told from multiple perspectives. After all it is a vast world that we are having to deal with and this is the easiest way to look at it. My favourites are defiantly Arya and Jon Snow. I had to speed through the other chapters just to get to theirs.
While this story feels very medieval in telling there is also a hint of fantasy as there are constant mentions of dragon and we even have dragon skulls in the keep of King’s Landing. Plus there is the mystery of the White Walkers beyond the Wall and the fact that Winter is Coming. All the time.
There is so much to explore with these books and Game of Thrones is a great introduction into what can only be called an epic series. From the very start you will know who your favourite characters and who you are rooting for. And at the end of the day you will have made a decision on who you want to sit on the iron throne.
