Your husband goes out to buy a newspaper. He never comes back.
Months later, an unexpected phone call puts you and your daughter in unimaginable danger.
Even if he were still alive, your husband can't save you now.
He told you way too many lies for that.
When I started reading In Too Deep I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I knew was that I was intrigued by the blurb and the mystery of it all. And that no matter what I had to find out what was going on.
There were many possibilities in this story, but the actually reason, the actual story was not one that I was prepared for. I was truly led down the wrong path and that made the reveal all the more sweeter. But that was probably because my jaw hit the floor at the reveal. There are a lot of twists and turns, that sometimes it is a bit hard to keep up and there is a couple of mysteries to solve – not only the disappearance of her husband but also the death of her son.
This is told from two perspectives – Hannah and Gina – each coping in their own way and each have a burden to carry and each of them are unwilling to share and get some support. It made me feel more involved in the story because I felt more connected to the characters. It also made it harder to guess the ending and to guess why Gina’s husband had gone missing.
In Too Deep was a great read, and for me was a fantastic introduction to Samantha Hayes work. I honestly cannot wait to pick up another book by her.
This is a page-turner that will keep you guessing until the very end.
