The Selection began with thirty-five girls. Now with the group narrowed down to the six Elite, the competition to win Prince Maxon's heart is fiercer than ever—and America is still struggling to decide where her heart truly lies. Is it with Maxon, who could make her life a fairy tale? Or with her first love, Aspen?
America is desperate for more time. But the rest of the Elite know exactly what they want—and America's chance to choose is about to slip away.
Having basically gobbled up The Selection I was eager to read The Elite, and I wasn’t disappointed. For starters there was another awesome dress that graced the cover, which I wish I could have, even if only to admire in my wardrobe.
In some ways this book was better than it’s predecessor as the competition has now just six girls competing and so we get to focus more on their characters and why they are in the competition.
For me there is a huge contrast between The Selection and The Elite. The Selection was more light-hearted, it was more about the competition and some hilarious attempts to woe the prince. But here, in The Elite the focus has expanded, not only has the competition intensified but we find out that Illea perhaps isn’t as perfect as originally thought, there are cracks appearing, and there are questions over how to improve the system.
An annoyance for some readers may be how indecisive America is about her love for Maxon and her constant use of Aspen as her back up plan. But I can forgive her. After all Maxon doesn’t focus his intention solely on America. Ooh exciting! I can not wait to see how this turns out!
This is a fun read that will leave you begging for more – it is beautiful and captivating. If you loved The Selection, I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this!
This book was the let down of the series for me. I almost didn’t read the third book (although I was glad I did). I just found it boring and I really hated Aspen. I hope you enjoy the third one. 🙂
I’m sad that you didn’t like this book that much 🙁 although I do agree that it is the weakest of the three! And yay I loved loved the third one (review is up soon!) 🙂
