Pastime Pleasures #7 – The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

Welcome to my  feature, Pastime Pleasures, posted every other Friday. Today is the turn of The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. Here I will look at books that have given me great pleasure in the past. These are books I can read over and over again. The only rule is that the book must have been published five or more years ago. The Undomestic Goddess was the first Sophie Kinsella book I ever read, and from the beginning it had me in stitches. I can tell you that, as someone who is currently studying law, it makes complete sense that someone will lose the plot and end up as a cleaner. Although I hope that I would be more up for the job than Samantha… But looking at the state of my room I guess not. There are genuine laugh out loud moments (yes I refuse to put LOL)  Especially when Samantha attempts to navigate her way round the kitchen and through her job while maintaining her professionalism. Have you heard of the Nimbus 2000 iron?!? Has Samantha landed on her feet? […]

Review: Things We Never Say by Sheila O’Flanagan

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Things We Never Say by Sheila O’Flanagan Published by Headline on June 17, 2014 Genres: Chick-lit, Contemporary, Fiction Pages: 504 Format: Paperback Source: Publisher Buy on Amazon Goodreads Sheila O’Flanagan’s unputdownable bestseller THINGS WE NEVER SAY is a must-read for fans of Marian Keyes and Veronica Henry. The things we never say: A daughter doesn’t say how she feels about the past… A husband is afraid to say that selling the house his wife loves is the only option… A woman hasn’t said that even though they live thousands of miles apart, this man is always on her mind… If those things were said, the results could be life-changing. As Abbey – and a whole family she knew nothing of – are about to find out in this warm-hearted, thought-provoking and touching novel. To begin Things We Never Say there are three flashback scenes which introduce to us three, separate, unrelated characters. And […]

Guest Post: ‘My top 5 shopping spots in London’ from Nicola Doherty, author of If I Could Turn Back Time

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for If I Could Turn Back Time by Nicola Doherty. And as part of it Nicola is going to share her Top 5 Shopping Spots in London. I loved reading If I Could Turn Back Time (see my review) and highly recommend it for all you Chick-lit fans out there! Don’t forget to visit other blog stops along the tour for other great content. Below Nicola shares her top 5 shopping spots in London. My top 5 shopping spots in London None of these are clothes shops. This is partly because you don’t need to know about my favourite clothes shops which are the same as loads of other people’s (Whistles, Mango, Ted Baker, Gap) and partly because these days I often prefer to shop online, at Atterley Road, Shopbop and Asos. I also love Nougat: terrible website, great knitwear and dresses. I find clothes shopping stressful at times: I get confused between liking the top and thinking I should like it because the assistant was nice and says it suits me and […]
