Meet Michele and Gabriel: young Black Witches in a brave new world.
Their mother was brutally murdered. Their father drowns his pain at the bottom of a bottle.
They begin a new life in Florida, where Michele meets a White Witch boy, but the divide between Black and White Witches is as dangerous as ever. Soon Michele is caught between love and loyalty, truth and lies.
Could falling in love be the deadliest mistake she's ever made?

Well, Half Bad was a great book but Half Lies, told from Michele’s perspective in the form of her diary, is even better.

And the simple reason is Gabriel. I loved him in Half Bad and was semi-frustrated that we didn’t see more of him in Half Bad. So this well and truly made up for it!

It was lovely to see Gabriel back-story. Which also explained more about the division between White and Black witches and to see the different solutions in different areas. And despite everything that has happened it was endearing to see how much hope for the future Michele had. And how much she hoped things would be different. It explains the older witches prejudices and how the younger generation are influenced by these views

What was particular lovely to see was their sibling relationship and how much they cared for one another either verbatim or via notes in the diary. It was so cute and just made me love Gabriel even more. And made the ending so much more emotional.

If you can’t wait for Half Wild then Half Lies will sate your appetite. Or at least for the time being… as I have a definite need for the next book!
