Random Thoughts: 7 Tips to Creating the Perfect Movie Night

Family movie night is one of those fun events that almost all families enjoy. If you have been seeking ways to make it even more special than it already is, there are some ways in which you can do this. Trying to make everything fun does not have to leave you scratching your head trying to figure out what to do next. Here are some of the major things you should take into consideration to make your next movie night as fun as possible. Select the right movie The first thing you’re going to need to do is to make sure that you are selecting the right movie. You need to choose a movie that is going to appeal to everyone in the family. This is easier said than done. A good idea is to let everybody put all their favorite movies into a box and then you can have a random draw on movie night. Of course, if one person’s movies keep coming up way too much you have to do the raffle again. You can do it in […]

Random Thoughts: 5 Films I’ll be Watching Halloween 2020

So with Halloween only a week away, I thought that I’d be super organised and decide which 5 films I’ll be watching Halloween 2020. I am not one that goes in for gore and horror. I hate films that make me jump. So let me assure you that these will be family friendly. 1. Original Jumanji. There is something creepy about the 1994 film. Whether its because Peter’s transformation into a monkey is weird and he ends up looking more like a wolf. Or if it’s Van Pelt’s determination that the game shall not end. I’m not sure. But one thing is I am glad that I was not playing this game! 2. Hocus Pocus. What is Halloween without Witches? And these three are hell-bent on getting their revenge. But they have not quite anticipated how the world has changed in the last three hundred years and it leads to some hilarious results. 3. Casper. I love all the Casper films. So while I’m saying Casper I mean all okay. Probably Casper the Friendly Ghost is my favourite. But I […]

Random Thoughts: What is Your Review Etiquette?

Recently, I’ve noticed on my social media that a lot of people are being questioned over their review etiquette. Whether its for promoting their review, showing of a haul or even communicating with other bloggers. Some of the things that people have been told off for include, tagging a person in a five star review. Being tagged in a book haul. And even being told off for publishing a negative review (the person who the review was about was not tagged or anything). Yes, it is a balancing act. On the one hand you have to be honest and truthful, on the other you don’t want to cause offence. Although it seems more of the case the offence has been taken indirectly. So, I’ve decided to thrown my opinion into the ring and list my own review etiquette, let me know what you think! And if there is anything I can improve on. 1.  Only tag the person being reviewed in a positive review. This to me is only fair. You wouldn’t like waking up one morning to find that […]

Random Thoughts: Some Fun Facts about Reading and Dyslexia

Hey everyone, so I thought today I would provide you with some fun facts about Reading and Dyslexia. So what is dyslexia? You probably already know the answer; it’s most likely that you know someone who is dyslexic, but if you need a bit of help I recently wrote a post about books featuring Dyslexia that may give you an idea. Reading and Dyslexia is all encompassing. There are multiple Dyslexia symptoms but they all affect your ability to read. Even when reading is considered a strength and spelling a weakness for example. To be specific Dyslexia is a specific neurological learning disability that is characterised by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition, poor spelling, and decoding abilities. Writing, vocabulary and reading comprehension are just secondary factors. So here are ten elements about dyslexia that you may not know: 1. Difficultly in distinguishing left from right. If you are in my car it is always the case that you have to say “my side” or “your side” it avoids a lot of hassle. But if you do make that foolish […]
