Guest Post: Exclusive Extract from The Waiting Game by Jessica Thompson

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for The Waiting Game by Jessica Thompson with an extract of The Waiting Game. I loved reading The Waiting Game (see my review) despite feeling sad most of the time… But in a good, everything is going to turn out fine kind of way. Below I have an exclusive extract from The Waiting Game, which was such an important moment in the book because this scene offers so much solace to Nessa and Kat (but I’m going to shut up now before spoilers occur!). Enjoy! Remember to check out the other stops on the tour for some great content!   Extract: January 14th 2015 . . . ‘Oh my god, I’m so, so nervous,’ Kat said, standing opposite her sister in the frozen car park. Her scarf came unravelled from her coat and blew in a rippling curl, jostled by the freezing cold wind. ‘Me too. Are we sure that this is the right thing to do?’ Nessa had asked, looking back at her car. The air was so cold it was […]

Guest Post: Q&A with Saskia Sarginson, author of The Other Me

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for The Other Me by Saskia Sarginson. With a Q & A with Saskia Sarginson. The Other Me is quite a suspenful read and for those who love their thrills and spills and love questioning what is going on then this is the book for you! (you can check out my review here). Remember to check out the other stops on the tour for some great content! Below Saskia has very kindly answered some of my questions, so just keep scrolling… Can you in five words describe your book to those who haven’t read it? That’s incredibly hard! I’m going to have to cheat a bit. ‘A mystery, love story and family history.’ Or perhaps the more ambiguous: ‘Identity crisis. Someone’s lying.’ What is your writing process? After walking my three dogs in the morning, I sit down with a coffee to write for about five hours. I don’t stop for anything if I’m on a roll. No phone calls or lunch or putting a wash on. Only strict necessities like having to […]

Guest Post: Q&A with Sarah Vaughan, author of The Art of Baking Blind

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for The Art of Baking Blind by Sarah Vaughan. And I have an awesome Q&A with Sarah Vaughan. I loved reading The Art of Baking Blind (see my review) even if it did make me hungry! That and wish that I could at least make a passable cake… Remember to check out the other stops on the tour for some great content! Below is a small Q&A with Sarah Vaughan, what do you guys think? Q&A with Sarah Vaughan: The Art of Baking Blind is full of delectable good; did you bake any of them for ‘research’? (And if so good choice!) The idea for my novel came as I baked with my young children and many of the recipes featured are ones we or I would make: gingerbread men, tarte au citron, carrot cake, boeuf bourguigon. Some of them I baked so that I could describe the process – for example choux pastry so that I could see how it went wrong. Others, such as the gingerbread house, were beyond me – […]

Guest Post: Q&A with Lisa Ballantyne, author of Redemption Road

Today I am delighted to be part of the Blog Tour for Redemption Road by Lisa Ballantyne. Redemption Road was a compelling read (see my review) and I highly recommend it. Below I have a Q&A with Lisa Ballantyne and I hope you enjoy the answers. Don’t forget to visit other blog stops along the tour for other great content. Enjoy guys 😉 Can you in five words describe your book to those who haven’t read it? A father and daughter fable. What is your writing process? I always start with character – just imagine my main characters and who they are. I believe that characters give heart and soul to books (and films for that matter) and truly understanding a person or character helps me to understand what motivates them to act… and that is the basis of plot. Was there anything in this book that took you by surprise? The scene where the teenage George and his loan shark father visit a debtor on a building site was an interesting one to write. It was one of the rare occasions […]

Romantic, funny, sunny and tastebud tickling. What is it about South Italy that inspired you to write about it? I love how places are defined by the food they grow. When you arrive in Puglia the olive trees are everywhere, practically grabbing you by the collar and showing you their home. What are your top three tips for aspiring writers? Get your story down first. […]
