WHAT IF YOUR SON HAD MURDERED SOMEONE?
Sarah always thought of herself and her husband, Tom, as good people. But that was before their son Freddy came home saying he'd done something terrible. Begging them not to tell the police.
Soon Sarah and Tom must find out just how far they are willing to push themselves, and their marriage, to protect their only child . . .
As the lies build up and Sarah is presented with the perfect opportunity to get Freddy off the hook, she is faced with a terrifying decision . . .
Save her son . . . or save herself?
The Lies We Tell is a great thriller, even if it is not an edge of your seat type of book. This is a book that will hook you in and leave you guessing until the very end. Honestly the title of the book is apt as I could not for the life of guess what was happening.
This is a thought provoking book that will make you question what you will do as a mother to protect your child. How far will you go? Would you do the same? This book made me question morals and ask if I would do the same or is this extreme?
This is a slow burner of a book as we start with a fascinating insight into Sophie and Tom’s relationship and family life. Before moving on to Freddie’s, their child, confession which changes this dysfunctional family. However it does take a few chapters for Freddie’s confession to come to light.
To be honest there is a lot of time spent in the past, when I wanted the book to move forward more. However, that being say this was a compelling and intriguing read.
The Lies We Tell is a book club read that everyone can enjoy and will keep you guessing throughout.
