Pastime Pleasures #36 – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Welcome to my feature, Pastime Pleasures all about books I have loved and adored and were published over five years.  Today is the turn of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.   I cannot believe that this book is over ten years old. It feels only like yesterday that I was reading it as fast as possible before going to see it on the big screen. And yes I can admit now that I hadn’t heard of this book until being dragged to the cinema by my younger sister. And being the person who has to read the book before seeing the adaption I had approximately two hours to read. From page one I was hooked. So much so that this is a series that I practically read every year and is up there with Harry Potter for some of my favourite pastime pleasures.  There is just something about Katniss that is compelling and endearing and makes you want to root for her from page one. Katniss is fearless and flawed. She follows her heart and is determined to protect […]

Review: The Stranger

The Stranger directed by Released on 30 January 2020 Genres: Mystery, Thriller Feature Length: 8 episodes of 41-52 minutes  Source:  Netflix Rating: A mysterious stranger tells a man a secret that has a devastating impact on his seemingly perfect life. This Stranger is a woman in her 20s with a baseball cap, and is learned to be correlated with more secrets as the series progresses. This secret affects the man’s wife who goes missing as a result. Review: So if you have been living in a cave, like I have The Stranger is probably a series that has passed you by. For me, I delayed watching as everyone I spoke to raved about this seres. I just didn’t want to watch and be disappointed by it not living up to the hype. Luckily for me this was not the case. My whole family decided to start this series. The original plan was to watch a couple of episodes each night. But we ended up watching all eight episodes in one sitting. The Stranger is an additive watch that will have you […]
