Family movie night is one of those fun events that almost all families enjoy. If you have been seeking ways to make it even more special than it already is, there are some ways in which you can do this.

Trying to make everything fun does not have to leave you scratching your head trying to figure out what to do next. Here are some of the major things you should take into consideration to make your next movie night as fun as possible.

Select the right movie

The first thing you’re going to need to do is to make sure that you are selecting the right movie. You need to choose a movie that is going to appeal to everyone in the family. This is easier said than done.

A good idea is to let everybody put all their favorite movies into a box and then you can have a random draw on movie night. Of course, if one person’s movies keep coming up way too much you have to do the raffle again.

You can do it in this creative way or you can just simply rotate who gets to choose the movie every other movie night.

Cosy Up!

The next thing you’re going to need to do is to make sure you are creating a comfy and cozy environment for your family to watch the movie. You want to ensure that you have lots of pillows and blankets. You can even try having sleeping bags as well.

Try dimming the lights to get that soft vibe into the room. The more you can get this type of atmosphere going, the more memorable and enjoyable the movie will be.

Fill your tummy

It’s always important for you to make sure that you are filling everyone’s tummy when there’s a movie night. You need to have snacks galore.

You should be able to pick, choose and refuse, especially the kids. You can have homemade treats, popcorn and candy.

If you’re able to select the movie well ahead of time you may have some snacks that are able to match up with the theme of the movie you will be seeing.

Switch up the seating

You want to make sure that you have the best seating possible when you are having a movie night. Sure, there is the usual sitting on your sofa but if that is getting boring, try floor cushions, bean bags or even make a fort using chairs and blankets.

Keep it interesting especially when you have kids and movie night will be much more memorable.

Get rid of all distractions

You need to make sure that you’re getting rid of all the distractions possible. It doesn’t make sense to have a movie night where you want to spend time with your family, and everybody’s on their devices instead of watching the movie.

Make it a rule in your house that all devices must be turned off. Better yet, have them put in a box or a cupboard, until the movie is over. Do not forget to turn them off before you put them away.

Themed movie nights

It’s a great idea for you to try having theme movie nights. These are super fun and are a great way to keep things fresh and interesting.

By narrowing down the genre of the movie it will become easier for you to make the selection and avoid unnecessary delays or surprises.

Some great themes that you can choose are 90s classics, superhero movies, nautical movies or action movies. You can even have a series such as Harry Potter as a theme.

You should however find out where to watch Harry Potter movies, so you can continue your series binge at the next movie night. Having specific themes like this can go a long way in ensuring that your movie night is a success.

If you’re ready to take things to the next level and move your movie night from ordinary to extraordinary, then it’s time for you to take the plunge and implement all the suggestions given here.

Create movie tickets

Creating movie tickets is a great way for you to get everyone involved and ready for your movie night. It simulates the reality of movie theaters and this is a great way for you to make the experience a little bit more authentic for you and everyone else involved.

Organise your creative team among your family members and then get to work making these extra special tickets so that your other family members can gain admission to your movie night.
