Sam has always dreamed of working with animals...
But her receptionist job in a London vets is not hitting the spot. Unsure whether a busy city life is for her, she flees to her Nana Peggy’s idyllic country village.
But despite the rolling hills and its charming feel, life in Hope Green is far from peaceful. On first meeting Joe, the abrupt and bad-tempered local vet, Sam knows she must get him on side, but that is easier said than done...
With her dream close enough to touch, will she get there, or will events conspire against her...?

This is the first time in ages that I have read a book in one sitting, in one day. Yes it probably helped that while reading The Vets at Hope Green, I had a day off from work, and it was sunny. Also it was hot that all I could do was read.

We learn early on that Sam is pregnant and she has some life changing decisions to make. On the spur of the moment she hands in her notice as receptionist at an inner city posh vets for a life in the country, living in her Nan’s spare bedroom.

I loved Sam’s determination to follow her dreams and get to where she wants. She has ambition and strength. And despite her situation she refuses to give in. I loved how calm Sam was in situations and how she always sees the best in everyone – even her grumpy boss Joe.

I also really loved the misunderstandings that happened throughout the book. They caused for some amusing situations and even more amusing conversations. There is poor David, always hopeful that Sam will fall for him and always getting himself into a bit of a mess in life. There is Joe who is grumpy for a reason but is always kind to the animals he cares for. And there is Ruby, the adorable horse mad ten year old.

The Vets at Hope Green is all about achieving your dreams, living your life and making the necessary changes to achieve it. It also about loads of really cute animals but from the title that should be obvious.

I think that it is fair to say that I devoured this book. There were moments where I laughed and even moments where I cried. A rare thing for me when reading. Charming and heartwarming this is the perfect book to read on the beach with a cocktail in our hand.
