Book vs. Film: How I Live Now

Today’s post for Book vs Film  focuses on How I Live Now. On this occasion I will briefly review both film and book before giving my opinion on which is better. Read and let me know if I am correct in my assessment.   Be warned! Spoilers may occur! The Book: I adore this book. When I first read it in 2004 I wasn’t exactly enamored with the book.  But over the years this book has grown on me to become a firm classic of my childhood reading. The major theme of the book is survival-ship and how love can conquer all, war, separation and expectations. And I thought it showed the confusion of war really well. It’s not clear who the enemy is or what their motive is. I liked that the book is told from Daisy’s perspective, what she knows we know everything else is lost to us. Random Thoughts: My Anticipated Reads of 2016

So I think it times to state some of my anticipated reads of 2016! These are some of the books that I cannot wait to get my hands on and read. There are others out there that I want to read as well. Although if I’m being honest most of them seem to be sequels. I’ve put them in date order here and NOT in order of preference.   This is the final book in the Red Rising Trilogy and I am so excited for this read. I feel like we have waited far too long for this book. I adored Red Rising and Golden Son so I have high hopes for this book. If you haven’t yet read this series then I highly recommend it to you, this is a series that won’t leave you disappointed. v       I first heard about this book at the Cheltenham Literature Festival where I was privileged enough to attend the Bloomsbury Book Party, and an extract of this book was read out by Meg Rosoff herself. The extract was hilarious and […]

How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff on November 30, 2004 Genres: Dystopia, Fiction, Romance, Science Fiction, Young Adult Pages: 194 Format: Paperback Source: Own Copy Buy on Amazon Goodreads “Every war has turning points and every person too.” Fifteen-year-old Daisy is sent from Manhattan to England to visit her aunt and cousins she’s never met: three boys near her age, and their little sister. Her aunt goes away on business soon after Daisy arrives. The next day bombs go off as London is attacked and occupied by an unnamed enemy. As power fails, and systems fail, the farm becomes more isolated. Despite the war, it’s a kind of Eden, with no adults in charge and no rules, a place where Daisy’s uncanny bond with her cousins grows into something rare and extraordinary. But the war is everywhere, and Daisy and her cousins must lead each other into a world that is unknown in the scariest, most elemental way. A riveting and astonishing story. Written in the first person perspective, How I live Now is told as if Daisy is […]
