Blog Tour: Q&A with Kathryn Hughes, author of The Key

Today, I am so excited to welcome onto the blog Kathryn Hughes , author of The Key as part of the blog tour. And most excitingly of all I have a very small Q&A with Kathryn Hughes today. Q&A with Kathryn Hughes: Briefly, can you tell us how you came up with the idea for THE KEY? The idea for The Key came from a true story I read about The Willard Asylum for the Chronic Insane in New York State.  In 1995, after the hospital had closed, a collection of over four hundred suitcases was discovered behind a locked attic door. The forgotten cases had been stored between 1910 and 1960 and belonged to former patients.  The average stay of a Willard patient was 30 years and most of them never left. I thought this would make an intriguing premise for a story, so I switched the narrative to the UK, did loads of research on the history of our mental institutions and THE KEY is the result. Do you always know the plot before writing a novel, or do you […]

Blog Tour: Q&A with Catherine Ferguson, Author of Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin

Today I am delighted to be hosting a Q&A with Catherine Ferguson, author of Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin. Q&A with Catherine Ferguson: 1. Can you in five words describe your book to those who haven’t read it? Funny, festive, family, fabulous food! 2. Was there anything in this book that took you by surprise? There are always some plot twists that don’t reveal themselves until part way through the writing. Towards the end of Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin, I needed to move the action along but wasn’t sure how best to do this. Not wanting to give anything away, a well-known Christmas party game came to mind that solved the problem very well indeed! 3. Do you have a favourite moment in the book? There’s a moment on Christmas Day when the heroine finally stops being a mouse and roars instead. I really enjoyed writing that scene. 4. Name the best book you have read in the last year, your favourite book and the book that is currently at the top of your TBR. I recently […]

Monthly Round-up! November 2016

Monthly Round-up, linking everything that has happened in the last month, posted on the last day of said month. This Round-up November 2016. Currently reading:   Reviews:   Through the Letterbox:   Challenges: A new year and a new challenge. This year I am participating in the movie musical challenge hosted by Bookish Whimsy.  This month I reviewed  an incredible 4 musicals – including the divine Meet Me In St. Louis, the charismatic Easter Parade, the moving Oklahoma! and finally Kiss Me Kate. As per usual I’m participating in the Goodreads Challenge. I’ve pledged to read 100 books! And so far have managed to read 75 books. I’m 6 behind which is terrible and I’m not sure how I will recover. But this is a small improvement on last month so keep your fingers crossed for me that I can keep going! So what do you think of my round-up November 2016? What have you read this month? Let me know in the comments below!   Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. […]
