Review: Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella on May 5, 2016 Genres: Chick-lit, Contemporary, Fiction, Young Adult Pages: 280 Format: E-Arc Source: Netgalley Buy on Amazon Goodreads Audrey can’t leave the house. she can’t even take off her dark glasses inside the house. Then her brother’s friend Linus stumbles into her life. With his friendly, orange-slice smile and his funny notes, he starts to entice Audrey out again – well, Starbucks is a start. And with Linus at her side, Audrey feels like she can do the things she’d thought were too scary. Suddenly, finding her way back to the real world seems achievable. Seeing as I pretty much have all the books by Sophie Kinsella, I was quite excited to see Finding Audrey. As it is aimed at young adults so I thought it would be a little different from previous novels, that were starting to take on a samey effect. Luckily I was right! […]

Pastime Pleasures #25- Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella

Welcome to my  feature, Pastime Pleasures, posted every other Friday. Today is the turn of Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella. Here I will look at books that have given me great pleasure in the past. These are books I can read over and over again. The only rule is that the book must have been published five or more years ago. This is a hilarious and witty read that will leave you in stitches! Perhaps best to not read it on public transport as you will laugh out loud. It is extremely difficult to maintain a straight face when reading this book. I think I went round with a permanent grin on my face, occasionally chuckling to myself, quite loudly…. There is so much humour, romance, drama, decision-making and so may secrets crammed into this book, that it is extremely hard to find a favourite part. There are also some extremely funny and outrageous characters – Jemima(!) an extremely loveable but clueless heroine, a sexy sounding love interest and some important life lessons to be learnt. This for me […]

Pastime Pleasures #7 – The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

Welcome to my  feature, Pastime Pleasures, posted every other Friday. Today is the turn of The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. Here I will look at books that have given me great pleasure in the past. These are books I can read over and over again. The only rule is that the book must have been published five or more years ago. The Undomestic Goddess was the first Sophie Kinsella book I ever read, and from the beginning it had me in stitches. I can tell you that, as someone who is currently studying law, it makes complete sense that someone will lose the plot and end up as a cleaner. Although I hope that I would be more up for the job than Samantha… But looking at the state of my room I guess not. There are genuine laugh out loud moments (yes I refuse to put LOL)  Especially when Samantha attempts to navigate her way round the kitchen and through her job while maintaining her professionalism. Have you heard of the Nimbus 2000 iron?!? Has Samantha landed on her feet? […]
