Diary of a #Cheltlitfest Volunteer Days 1-2

Welcome to my little page on the internet where I am diaries my time at the brilliant Cheltenham Literature Festival. I am going to give you a brief update each time of the ins and outs of being a festival volunteer. So without further ado, welcome to my Diary of a #Cheltlitfest Volunteer Days 1-2! Friday 6th October So I had a gentle start to the day by not starting until 3.45pm. Meaning that after all the heavy lifting I could have a bit of a lie in.  And we got to wonder around and enjoy the site. I also went  to see Andrew Marr, who was talking about painting and how his painting style has change since his stroke. And a new way to look at art. I have to be honest his art wasn’t really my cup of tea, but others may disagree   After that I was on duty welcoming people into the Forum. First up was Miranda Hart with her new  book ‘The Girl With The Lost Smile’  who was really funny and lovely.  However I have to […]

Diary of a #CheltLitFest Volunteer Days 1-2 (pre-festival)

Welcome to my little page on the internet where I am diaries my time at the brilliant Cheltenham Literature Festival. I am going to give you a brief update each time of the ins and outs of being a festival volunteer. So without further ado, welcome to my Diary of a #Cheltlitfest Volunteer Days 1-2 (pre-festival)! Hi Everyone! Before I get into the ins and outs of the festival I just wanted to have a bit of an introduction. Something I should have done a couple of days ago but oh well! So if you didn’t already know I’ve volunteered at the Cheltenham Literature Festival for three years now so I can be considered an old hand. Maybe… It’s a lot of fun and you get to meet a whole host of people (other volunteers, the event manager, the public, and a celeb writer or two), and talk books for THE ENTIRE WEEK!! So the aim of this ‘diary’ is to give you a little bit of an idea of what it is like to be a volunteer and maybe some […]

Random Thoughts: My Bookish Resolutions for 2017

So you must be sick of bookish resolutions for 2017. Everyone has posted their year goals already. but just because it is no longer the new year doesn’t mean that resolution cannot be made. And as normally new year resolutions are ditched within the first two weeks of them being made, I thought now would be the perfect time to list my bookish resolutions for 2017. And that is what I am now doing.   Last year I set myself six little resolutions. Some of them I achieved. Others I failed miserably. This year I hope to achieve all my goals, but we will find out at the end of the year. So my goals this year are: To actually complete a challenge I set myself Last year I set the task of completing a bookish challenge. I failed. This year I just want to complete one challenge. It doesn’t have to be bookish. I can be anything. And seeing as I be announcing a couple of challenges soon this goal should be achievable. This year at least. Reduce the […]

Random Thoughts: Looking back at 2016 Resolutions

Last year I set myself six little goals, six resolutions to help me read and blog better. And now is the time to look back at 2016 Resolutions. Some of my goals I achieved others I failed at. But looking back I’m really happy with what I achieved and hopefully this will push me to do even better in 2017 So my goals in 2016 were: To complete the reading challenges I set myself. This was a challenge I failed. Again I didn’t complete a challenge but this gave me an opportunity to try new things so in that sense it was a success. To comment on other blogs. I definitely succeeded in this challenge. Sometime I struggle to know what to say but as the year progressed I felt I got a lot more comfortable sharing my opinion. Reduce the amount of ARC’s / Netgalley books I have to read. I don’t think I succeeded in this goal, there are still a huge pile of books to read, but I have definitely become a lot more selective in what I will […]
