Review: Artemis Fowl Movie

Artemis Fowl Movie directed by Released on 12 June 2020 Genres: Family, Adventure, Fantasy Feature Length: 95 mins Source: Disney+ Rating: Artemis Fowl, a young criminal prodigy, hunts down a secret society of fairies to find his missing father.   Review: So I was super excited to watch the Artemis Fowl Movie on Disney+. It is one of my favourite reads from my childhood and so I had high hopes. Yet somehow they managed to distort and change a really good story by amalgamating the first two books into one story.  Which in my opinion confused the whole plot. And took away that quintessential idea of a twelve year old being a criminal mastermind who still believed in magic. Someone who wars with being a child while taking on the adult responsibility of the family business. And then let’s get to that family business. In the books they are criminals. And that is what Artemis is. A criminal who wants his name noticed by doing something no one else in his family has done – steal from the fairies – Instead we get […]

Review: The Stranger

The Stranger directed by Released on 30 January 2020 Genres: Mystery, Thriller Feature Length: 8 episodes of 41-52 minutes  Source:  Netflix Rating: A mysterious stranger tells a man a secret that has a devastating impact on his seemingly perfect life. This Stranger is a woman in her 20s with a baseball cap, and is learned to be correlated with more secrets as the series progresses. This secret affects the man’s wife who goes missing as a result. Review: So if you have been living in a cave, like I have The Stranger is probably a series that has passed you by. For me, I delayed watching as everyone I spoke to raved about this seres. I just didn’t want to watch and be disappointed by it not living up to the hype. Luckily for me this was not the case. My whole family decided to start this series. The original plan was to watch a couple of episodes each night. But we ended up watching all eight episodes in one sitting. The Stranger is an additive watch that will have you […]

Review: Lady and the Tramp (2019)

Lady and the Tramp directed by Released on 24 March 2020 Genres: Animation Feature Length: 103 mins Source: Disney+ Rating: Lady is the pampered female dog belonging to Jim Dear and Darling. When her human masters bring a baby into the house, Lady feels she’s being eased out; and when Darling’s insufferable Aunt Sarah introduces her nasty twin Siamese cats into the fold, Lady is certain that she’s no longer welcome. Review: As soon as Disney+ was available in the UK, I instantly activated my account and went to watch Lady and the Tramp. It is the first Disney ‘live adaption’ to not be released theatrically, and there is a very good reason for that. You would think that being Disney, the same creativity seems in other movies would be in this one. But that is not the case. Lady and the Tramp while it is a faithful adaptation, it is lacking in the quintessential charm of the original. And while I have said that this is a faithful adaption there has been some modernisation. Some that is successful and some that […]
