Welcome to my feature, Pastime Pleasures all about books I have loved and adored and were published over five years. Today is the turn of Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson.
Steelheart was the first book that I ever read by Brandon Sanderson and was one of the first books that I reviewed on this blog. It is slightly crazy to think that the first time I read this book was over six years ago. But like any good book the story sticks with you and you cannot wait for that moment when you forget and can have the pleasure of reading again.
This is one book that I have asked, begged friends and family to read because it is so good. Luckily a few of them have listened. And perhaps more importantly they agree with me!
Throughout we follow David as he seeks to become a Reckoner and bring the downfall of Steelheart. A Epic who killed his father and whose weakness David only seems to know. I’d also forgotten how hilariously awful David’s metaphors are. So bad that they have to be explained….
Steelheart is a brilliant take on what it actually means to be a superhero. Added to that there are some awesome fights, adrenaline fuelled pages and some heart-stopping moments. Steelheart will literally stop you from putting it down because there is a desperate need to find out what happens next.
